Jess Nordquist is an artist and designer currently residing in Austin, TX. She received her BFA from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, where she studied visual and interactive design. In her work as a multidisciplinary artist, she moves between digital and analog processes, combining photography, sculpture, collage, drawing, and printmaking.

Jess’ work reflects an ongoing interest in material exploration and the relationship between light and form, seeing and perceiving. By integrating multiple techniques, she creates compositions that blur the boundaries between mediums while maintaining a cohesive visual language.

The focus of my work is to explore and play with the conventions of dimensional sculpture and minimalism through the use of plain materials which are carefully shaped, photographed, and manipulated to influence and control spatial perception. However layered and complex the process, the final composition is intentionally quiet and restrained, evoking a feeling of harmony, order, and stillness. My hope is to pause the viewer long enough to bring them into a more attentive and contemplative way of seeing.
